Oomagamma as a company strives to deliver a quality and a range of products that were either unaffordable for most users at existing prices or simply non-existing. We offer our customers a rounded range of products for almost all needs in the realm of audio recording. We aim to stand alongside the finest individual products in every field of audio recording and offer it at a fraction of the comparative price. At every step we offer sonic comparisons between our products and those that set the standard in the audio industry. Further we include accessories and design features that make the practical application of these products most efficient.
Our approach to the creation of microphones and ancillary devices has been guided by a varied set of factors. primarialy being the desire for better, less expensive alternatives. The other great factor in our development has been this era of knowledge, allowing us to learn, utilise and improve processes that have factored in the ideas of audio invertors and companies before us.
To describe some of our innovation, we’ve made available the Brahma kit, which is the easily the most affordable sound field microphone and recording system, bringing the price down from several thousand dollars to a little below one thousand. To put it in perspective, the sound field microphone is a radical development from the 1970’s that has still not seen wide usage due to its cost and physical limitations. It is the only single point recording from which you can create any and every microphone pattern (omni, cardioid, figure of 8, etc), as well as creating mono, stereo, 4 channel, 5.1, 7.1 and 8 channel surround with height. There is also no phase cancellation between capsules, and it is a point and record microphone that doesn’t need positional alignment specific for recording and playback patterns. Previously recording from a sound field or tetra-head mic needed an analog A-format to B-format converter attached to the microphone on location, and needed a laptop to record these files. We’ve devised a system where the A-format files are saved to a pocket sized 24 bit, 4 channel SD card recorder and the later calibrated transference to B-format is done at a convenient time on a computer.
Another original idea is of The Plate Array, of mounting 5 omni capsules on an acrylic plate to achieve directionality for a microphone. The advantages being the flat frequency response of small omni-capsules combined with the high output and low noise of 5 capsules connected in series - the entire front facing surface plate acting as the surface of the microphone. The Plate Array has proven an extremely successful microphone in its applications in the documentary films and field recording as it is equally natural sounding indoors and out, while being less sensitive to wind disturbance than a shotgun microphone. It has been extensively used by many recordists, with superb reviews.
As an enterprise, our two sites Embracevideo and Oomagamma have taken on a scale unimagined, at least by us. We are extremely proud of our endeavour and effort. We are completely committed to providing the most reliable and highest quality products achievable. Great care is given to each unit we manufacture. We intend to faithfully serve the fraternity of professionals and technicians to whom we belong. Further, we receive a constant feedback from the many users who come in contact with us, on what is needed, what is unavailable and what can be bettered. We enter the business knowing that we are doing things that are new in the professional audio market, or better and cheaper than pre-existing ideas.
